Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 7, 2026
LegalDocs provides free legal document templates that you fill out and download directly from your browser. We designed the platform this way on purpose: when you are working with sensitive legal information — names on contracts, terms of NDAs, property details in lease agreements — that data should not pass through anyone else's hands.
This privacy policy describes our data practices, which can be summarized in one sentence: generated legal documents are not stored, reviewed, or accessible by us.
Client-Side Document Generation
Every document on LegalDocs — from NDAs to freelance contracts to LLC operating agreements — is assembled entirely within your browser. When you fill in a form and click generate, JavaScript running on your device compiles the document. Nothing is transmitted to our servers during this process. We do not have a backend system that processes, logs, or stores the content of your legal documents.
This means we cannot see who you are drafting an NDA with, what the terms of your lease look like, or the scope of a non-compete agreement you are creating. That information exists only on your screen and, once downloaded, on your device.
Personal Information
LegalDocs does not require registration, login credentials, or any form of identity verification. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or mailing address. There is no user account system, no profile data, and no contact list. You can visit the site and generate documents with complete anonymity.
What Stays on Your Device
LegalDocs uses browser localStorage for a handful of convenience features: remembering which tools you have used recently, storing your theme preference, and keeping a list of favorited generators. All of this data resides exclusively in your browser's local storage. It is never synced to a server, never shared with third parties, and can be deleted at any time by clearing your browser data.
We do not use localStorage to save the content of any document you generate. Once you navigate away from a tool or refresh the page, any form data you entered is gone unless you saved the output yourself.
Analytics and Tracking
We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics to understand how visitors interact with the site — for example, which document generators are used most frequently, or how many visitors the site receives in a given week. These analytics do not include personally identifiable information and do not track individual browsing behavior across other websites.
Advertising
LegalDocs uses Google AdSense to display advertisements, which helps us keep the service free. Google may place cookies on your browser to show you relevant ads based on your browsing history. You can manage your ad preferences or opt out of personalized ads through Google's Ad Settings. We do not provide Google or any advertiser with information about the documents you create.
URL Sharing Feature
Certain tools include the ability to share your current configuration via a URL. The data is encoded in the URL hash fragment, which browsers do not send to servers as part of HTTP requests. If you share such a URL, the recipient will be able to see the encoded data. Exercise caution when sharing links that may contain sensitive legal terms or party names.
Security
Our site is served over HTTPS to ensure the integrity of the code delivered to your browser. Since we do not maintain a database of user data or generated documents, there is no centralized store that could be breached. The security of your completed documents depends on how you store them on your own device.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal compliance. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the latest revision was published. We encourage you to review this page from time to time.
